Southeast Idaho / June 3 2009 – Severe Thunderstorm with shelf cloud

Chaser: Gerrit Gulden
This storm located West of Idaho falls towards Arco went severe for winds in excess of 60mph and hail to the size of quarters. I decided to jump in the truck and chase down the storm to see what I could get. I drove and got to this area off a highway and turned the cameras on and waited. There was slight rotation in the storm but as far as this area of the storm it was mostly wind with the shelf. The shelf eventually died off and the storm weakened before hitting Idaho Falls. Was a decent chase with only about 80 miles total driving. Thats been the way 2009’s storms have occured. All in close proximity.
